2012 Reading List

When working on this horror script I sometimes ask myself “what’s the scariest thing that could happen in this moment of the story?” I put myself in that point in the scene and use the depth of my aggressive paranoia - honed from watching hundreds of horror films over decades - to see what I can come up with. When I find something that makes me physically cold and on the verge of tears, something that makes me think “oh jeez, that’s way too much,” that’s what I use. If I’m not terrified in the writing of this, who is going to be scared watching it?

EDIT: I just made myself actually cry.
